Recorded in the Rock

Yesterday afternoon I left the boys to their swim in the somewhat cooler Pacific Ocean at Thirroul beach, and wandered towards the rock pools at the sand's southern end.

There, the rock faces are fractured by rusty threads of mineral ore, and between the red and purple streaks are the carved names of beach visitors and sweethearts from long ago. I couldn't help but wonder where these people are now, and whether these romances have lasted as long as their wave-washed imprints in the rock...

A Weekend in Greenhead

Hello lovelies, I'm home from a brilliant long weekend away. I'm back to boxes, and back to packing up this house of ours. Just so I can prolong my holiday buzz a little bit longer, I decided to make a wee video to sum up the sun drenched weekend I had, instead of sharing photos. Enjoy!

The song is 'Through Your Eyes' by Nina Kinert.

Beached

What a way to spend an un-employed Thursday; at the beach with friends. Bliss.

In My Dreams I Go

Flickr photo 'Twilight and the cliffs of Kai Iwi Beach' by Peter
Nearly every night this past week I have been having dreams about my favourite place in the world - Kai Iwi Beach in Wanganui, where I spent every school holiday for about 10 years during my childhood. I was thinking that just in the same way that people use door frames as a measuring stick for all the milestones in their youth, Kai Iwi is the measuring stick for my adolescence. All the important family events were celebrated there, most of my memories are of long hot days in the water, and bitterly cold winters by the fire. It is such a beautiful, special place for me - but not in a cliched way. It's wild and rough - the wind bites in the winter, the blue streaked black sand scorches in summer. The cliffs are dark, moody and dangerous... but it's mine. I may not be able to go there now, but at least I can visit it in my dreams... Bliss!

The Best Medicine

Ahh, nothing beats a bit of homesickness then three kiwi gals having a good old chin wag and a wine (or three!) whilst enjoying a gorgeous Perth sunset at the beach. It's always the little things that make a so so day, a brilliant day :)
